The committee has resolved there is no senior heat policy for senior night games. During any games played in trying conditions, the referee may call one umpires timeout per quarter, in addition to both teams available timeouts. If the referee deems the conditions to be unbearably extreme, after consultation and agreement with both coaches, the games will be cancelled and each team receives one premiership point.
Coaches are advised that if you have juniors competing in senior teams to please take precautions to prevent heat stress of your players through extra time outs or reduced time on court. Parents of the junior players are also encouraged discuss your concerns with the coach before these game.
All coaches should be aware of the signs of heat stress/dehydration.
Some of the signs are thirst, profuse sweating, headaches, dizziness, fatigue and muscle cramps. In hot weather it is advisable that players drink 250ml of water at least 1/2 hour before attending the game. Players should bring a minimum of 1 litre of water (ONLY) for consumption during the game. Following the game it is recommended that you drink a further 500ml of water.
PLEASE NOTE AUTOMATIC HEAT POLICY CANCELLATIONS WILL NOT BE ADVISED DIRECTLY TO THE TEAMS IN ADVANCE. IT IS EXPECTED THAT TEAMS WILL CHECK THE RELEVENT INFORMATION THEMSELVES.
